In the beginning of the third book of the Percy Jackson's series; Percy, Annabeth, Thalia and Grover went to a school on the top of a cliff to recruit two half-bloods before Luke does. When they arrived they met with the principal of the school ( that is a monster hidden) so he told them to go to the dance in the gym, but when they arrived to the dance they saw that the principal took the two brothers half-blood out of the dance, when Percy saw this he went after them. By the time, he stopped the principal and they fight, but the principal is too strong for Percy to defeat, so Percy faked that he was really weak so the principal would take him with him and wouldn't kill Percy. Out of the school Percy tried to contact Grover by the link they have in their minds (that they use for situations when they are in danger) and he accomplished to do it. After some time Thalia, Annabeth and Grover made it to the top of the cliff where the principal was with Percy and the two brothers half-blood. When the principal had defeated them and was about to kill them, Artemis (the goddess of the hunters) and her hunters arrived to save them, but when they kill the monster hidden as a principal they kill Annabeth too.
I felt really shocked when Annabeth dies when Artemis and her hunters kill the monsters so I chose these quote " the monster, with Annabeth still on his back, leaped over the cliff and tumbled into darkness" (Riordan, 39) . I couldn't believe that Artemis hunters couldn't wait until Annabeth hops of the monsters back or see if she could kill him because if she managed to hop on she could've killed him. I felt sad when Artemis told Percy "I'm really sorry Percy Jackson, but your friend is beyond help"(Riordan, 40). Annabeth was the smart one and the one that always kept everybody alive so I felt sorry that anybody could save her or even say goodbye. If Artemis and her hunters would've wait or had given a chance Annabeth would still be alive.
I learned from what I learned this week that safety is more important that honor because Percy didn't wait for the rest of their friends so he could kill the monster and save the brothers alone. I also learned that everybody should think before the act, I learned this from Annabeth's death because she did not think before she hopped on the monster's back. I hope that in my reading from next week Percy meets with his dad and Poseidon gives him a quest. I also think that after Percy meets up with his dad he gets a message from Chiron telling Percy that he is in great danger. I am excited to read and discover what happens next in Titan's Curse and to write it here so I can share it with you!
